Financial problems relating to those we regulate

Lawyers and those working with them are trusted to hold large amounts of money belonging to clients.

Like anyone else, a law firm can experience financial problems. Those involved may find themselves unable to pay bills, employees, tax, insurance, or they may have their own personal financial problems. If this happens, issues of professional conduct may arise.

If you think a person or firm regulated by us is in financial difficulty, contact us immediately (by emailing or writing to our Fraud and Confidential Intelligence Bureau). If the situation is having an effect on clients, we may need to act.
