Inheritance scams

How it works

Some scams claim you have inherited millions of pounds or dollars from a relative. You will not have heard of the relative, and it is likely you will be told they lived in a country you have never visited.

The fraudster will use a story to convince you of your inheritance. You will be asked to send fees up front to cover expenses before the money can be released to you. Neither the relative nor the inheritance exists.
