Valuable item scams

How it works

You will receive a letter, email or phone call informing you that a valuable item is held for you in a secure deposit box. The fraudster will tell you they are waiting to release the item to you. You will be told that you do not need to collect in person, and can send a fee to cover administration costs.

What you should do

The item does not exist, and you should ignore any contact made with you.

If you think you have fallen victim to a scam, contact your local police.

If you believe a solicitor is involved, contact us immediately by emailing or writing to our Fraud and Confidential Intelligence Bureau.
