Decision details

In accordance with Regulation 7 of the SRA Practising Regulations 2011 Ms Adesemowo has been granted a practising certificate for 2012/2013 subject to the following conditions:

  • 1. Ms Adesemowo is not a sole practitioner or the sole solicitor manager or sole solicitor owner of a recognised or licensable body.
  • 2. The definitions of “sole practitioner”, “owner” and “manager” in Chapter 14 of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011 shall apply to this condition.
  • 3. Ms Adesemowo undertakes a course accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority on the SRA Handbook 2011 (minimum 3 CPD hours) within 6 months of resuming paid work practising as a solicitor and provides confirmation of the completion of the course (in the form of a certificate or letter of attendance from the course provider) when she next applies for a practising certificate.

Reasons/basis

This decision has been taken in the public interest to limit, restrict, halt or prevent Ms Adesemowo’s involvement in activities that she is unsuitable to undertake (SRA Practising Regulations 2011 - regulation 7.1 (a)).

Imposing the condition that she attends training will, in the public interest, require Ms Adesemowo to take specified steps conducive to the carrying on of efficient practice (Regulation 7.1(d)).
