Decision details

1. Pursuant to the provisions of Regulation 6 of the SRA Practising Regulations 2009, the I DECIDE to impose immediate conditions upon the current practising certificate of Mr Michael Wosskow that he undertake courses approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority on the Solicitors Accounts Rules 1998 and the Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007 within 6 months of the date of notification of this decision and shall provide confirmation that he has undertaken the required courses (in the form of a certificate or letter of completion) at such courses (within 7 months of this decision). For the avoidance of doubt, Mr Wosskow is to attend 2 separate courses.

Reasons/basis

The Adjudicator considered that it is necessary and proportionate Mr Wosskow to update and refresh his knowledge on the Solicitors Code of Conduct and the Solicitors Accounts Rules, as a result of his failure to comply fully with regulatory requirements, in accordance with regulation 6.1 (d) of the SRA Practising regulations 2009.

In reaching the above decision, the Adjudicator has in mind that the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s overriding obligation and concern is to protect the interests of the public. The primary purpose of practising certificate conditions is to enable the Solicitors Regulation Authority to put in place necessary controls to manage risk and maintain public confidence in the conduct and service of solicitors.
