The Authorised Officer DECIDES to grant Mr J H Wright a practising certificate for the practice year 2010/2011 subject to the following conditions:
- 1. He is not to be a sole practitioner or a sole director of a recognised body.
- 2. He is not to be a manager or owner of a recognised body where all other managers or owners:
- 2.1 have less than 3 years experience practising as a lawyer in a firm regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority unless the arrangements have first been approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
- 2.2 are recognised bodies of which they are a sole director.
- 3. Save for acting for members of his immediate family, he may not undertake any probate work in the course of acting as a solicitor, he may not accept instructions to apply for Grant of Probate or letters of administration, either in his own name or on behalf of another, and where he has already obtained such a grant in his own name or on behalf of any other person, he must instruct other solicitors to act in the matter.
- 4. Mr Wright is not to be the complaints handling partner.
- 5. Mr Wright shall immediately inform any actual or prospective employer, co-manager, or co-owner of these conditions and the reasons for their imposition.
Reasons/basis
Mr Wright is subject to Regulation 3.1 (a)(i), (b), (c) and (g) of the SRA Practising Regulations 2009.
The condition is imposed upon Mr Wright’s practising certificate for the practice year 2010/2011 having had regard to Regulation 6.1(a) and (d) of the SRA Practising Regulations 2009.

3. Mr Wright shall immediately inform any actual or prospective employer, co-manager, or co-owner of these conditions and the reasons for their imposition.
4. In this condition “manager” and “owner” are as defined in Chapter 14 of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011.
Reasons/basis
Mr Wright is subject to Regulation 3.1(a)(i), (b), (g) & (c) of the SRA Practising Regulations 2011.
Consideration has been given to Mr Wrights extensive regulatory history, which includes two appearances before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal (SDT) on 9 July 2007 and 13 January 2009.
Giving regard to Regulation 7.1(a) of the SRA Practising
Regulations 2011 the Authorised Officer considered the condition of not to be a sole practitioner or sole director of a recognised body would, in the public interest, prevent Mr Wright’s involvement in those activities.
