Mr Baker was granted a practising certificate for the practice year 2008/2009 subject to the conditions that: 1. he may act as a solicitor only in employment which has first been approved by the SRA; 2. he is not a sole practitioner or manager or owner of a recognised body; 3. Mr Baker shall immediately inform any actual or prospective employer of these conditions and the reasons for their imposition; 4. in this condition "manager" is defined in section 207 of the Legal Services Act 2007 and "owner" is defined in rule 24 of the Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007. 5. Mr Baker attends a course accredited by the SRA on the Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007 within 3 months of the date of notification of this decision and provides confirmation of his attendance (in the form of a certificate or letter of attendance from the course provider) at such course within 4 months of notification of the decision.
Reasons/basis
These conditions are imposed in light of the Findings of the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, Mr Baker's financial history, and the fact that he has not practised as a solicitor since 1994.

To grant Mr Anthony Stephen Baker a practising certificate for the practice year 2010/2011 subject to the following conditions:
- 1. he may act as a solicitor only in employment which has first been approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
- 2. he is not a sole practitioner or a manager or owner of a recognised body.
- 3. Mr Baker shall immediately inform any actual or prospective employer of these conditions and the reasons for their imposition.
- 4. Mr Baker may act as a locum without the prior approval of the SRA for a period or not more than one month in any two month period provided that he is supervised by a solicitor manager in the practice.
- 5. In this condition "manager" is as defined in section 207 of the Legal Services Act 2007 and "owner" is as defined in rule 24 of the Solicitors Code of Conduct.
- 6. Mr Baker attends a course accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority on the SRA Handbook (minimum 3 CPD hours) within 3 months of the date of notification of this decision and provides confirmation of his attendance (in the form of a certificate or letter of attendance from the course provider) when he next applies for a practising certificate.
Reasons/basis
The Solicitors Regulation Authority are satisfied that it is a reasonable, necessary, appropriate and proportionate that the Solicitors Regulation Authority imposes the above practising certificate conditions at the present time.
