Decision details

The Adjudicator DECIDED to impose an immediate condition on Mr Mark Philip Knights’ current (2009/2010) practising certificate, pursuant to Section 13A of the Solicitors Act 1974 (as amended) and Regulation 6 of the SRA Practising Regulations 2009, namely that he is not to act as an Advocate in any criminal proceedings or give advice in criminal law matters (including acting as a duty solicitor under the Duty Solicitors Scheme or attend Police Stations as a duty solicitor representative).

Reasons/basis

Mr Knights is subject to Regulation 3.1(o) of the SRA Practising Regulations 2009.

These conditions are imposed pursuant to the provisions of Regulation 6.1(a) as the Solicitors Regulation Authority considers that in these circumstances, notwithstanding the fact that the question of Mr Knights’ innocence or guilt has yet to be established, such a condition is necessary in order to protect the interests of the public.
