Decision details
Mr Achom undertakes a course accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority on The Solicitors’ Code of Conduct 2007 within 3 months of the date of notification of this decision and provides confirmation of the completion of the course (in the form of a certificate or letter of attendance from the course provider) at such course within 6 months of notification of this decision.
Reasons/basis
Mr Achom’s conduct has been referred to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal. The main allegation against him that he practised as a sole practitioner of a firm without SRA recognition is denied but he agrees that he would benefit form attending a refresher course on the Solicitors’ Code of Conduct. There are no client complaints under investigation.
The purposes for which conditions may be imposed on a practising certificate in the public interest are set out in Regulation 6 of the SRA practising Regulations 2009.
In the circumstances the Adjudicator considered that the above condition will be conducive to Mr Achom’s carrying on of efficient practice and is reasonable, necessary and proportionate in the interests of the public.
