1. The Authorised Officer decided to grant Bilal Khawaja a practising certificate for the practice year 2010/2011 subject to the following conditions:
- (i) He may act as a solicitor only in employment which has first been approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
- (ii) He is not a sole practitioner or a manager or an owner of a recognised body.
- (iii) In this condition “manager” is as defined in Section 207 of the Legal Services Act 2007 and “owner” is as defined in rule 24 of the Solicitors’ Code of Conduct.
- (iv) He does not hold or have responsibility for any client money and does not authorise client or office account transfers, electronic or otherwise.
- (v) He is not a signatory to any client or office account cheques.
- (vi) Mr Khawaja shall immediately inform any actual or prospective employer of these conditions and the reasons for their imposition.
Reasons/basis
In making the above recommendation the Authorised Officer had regard to the Regulation 6.1 (c) of the SRA Practising Regulations 2009.

Reasons/basis
Mr Khawaja is currently subject to Regulation 3.1 of the SRA Practising Regulations 2011. In accordance with the provisions od Regulation 7.1(c) of the same Regulation, it was considered in the public interest for Mr Khawaj to be subject to practising certificate conditions in accordance with the public interest.
