Reasons/basis
The Committee was satisfied that grounds for intervention existed under Paragraphs 5(3)(ea), 5(3)(j), 5(3)(c ), and 5(3)(a) of Schedule 14 of the Courts and Legal Services Act 1990 (as amended) on the part of Mr Muhammad Malik as the Committee was satisfied that:
- 1. Mr Malik had abandoned his practice;
- 2. It was necessary to exercise the intervention powers in relation to Mr Malik to protect interests of clients (or former or potential clients) or the interests of beneficiaries of any Trust which Mr Malik is or was a Trustee.
- 3. Mr Malik had failed to comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules 1998; and,
- 4. There was reason to suspect dishonesty on the part of Mr Malik.
