The Authorised Officer DECIDED to grant Mrs Susan Joan Wright a practising certificate for the practice year 2011-2012 subject to the following conditions:-
- 1. she may act as a principal solicitor
- 1.1 or as a manager or owner of a recognised or licensable body,
only after the arrangements have first been approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
- 2. In this condition “manager” is as defined in section 207 of the Legal Services Act 2007 and “owner” is as defined in Chapter 14 of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011.
- 3. These conditions do not affect Mrs Wright’s entitlement to practice freely as an employed solicitor in industry.
Reasons/basis
Mrs Wright was subject to regulation 3.1(g) and (k)(ii) as a consequence of regulatory matters.
Accordingly, the Authorised Officer was required to consider whether to impose any practising certificate condition in accordance with Regulation 7 of the SRA Practising Regulations 2011 which sets out the purposes for which conditions may, in the public interest, be imposed on a solicitor's practising certificate.
Mrs Wright was subject to Reg 3.1(g) and Reg 3.1(k)(ii) as a result of having entered into an IVA, which remains ongoing. Accordingly, the Authorised Officer was satisfied that the above conditions remained necessary, reasonable and proportionate in the interests of the public, and that no other restriction on her legal practice is required.
The Authorised Officer was satisfied, in line with the SRA's publication policy, that it was in the public interest to publish this decision.
