Reasons/basis
1.The Committee was satisfied that grounds for intervention existed under Paragraph 1(1) (m) of Part I of Schedule 1 to the Solicitors Act 1974 (as amended), as it agreed that it was necessary to exercise the powers conferred by Part II of this Schedule (or any of them) in relation to Mr Aurang Khattak to protect the interests of clients (or former or potential clients) of Mr Aurang Khattak or his firm, or the beneficiaries of any trust which Mr Aurang Khattak is or was a trustee.
2. The Committee was satisfied that grounds for intervention existed under Paragraph 32(1)(e) of Schedule 2 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 (as amended), as it agreed that it was necessary to exercise the powers conferred by Part II of this Schedule (or any of them) in relation to Caffrey & Co Incorporating Khattak-Pasha & Co Ltd to protect the interests of clients (or former or potential clients) of Caffrey & Co Incorporating Khattak-Pasha & Co Ltd or the beneficiaries of any trust which Caffrey & Co Incorporating Khattak-Pasha & Co Ltd or any manager or employee of Caffrey & Co Incorporating Khattak-Pasha & Co Ltd are or were a trustee.
