An Authorised Officer DECIDED to grant Mr Ayeni a practising certificate for the practice year 2009/2010 subject to the conditions that:

1. he is not a sole practitioner or sole director of a recognised body;

2. he is not a manager or owner of a recognised body were all the other managers or owners 
    2.1 have less than 3 years experience practising as a lawyer in a firm regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority unless the arrangements have first been approved by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. 
    2.2 are recognised bodies of which he is a sole director.

3. Mr Ayeni shall immediately inform any actual or prospective employer, co-manager, or co-owner of these conditions and the reasons for their imposition.

4. If Mr Ayeni holds client monies he is required to deliver half yearly accountant's reports, such reports and any cease to hold report required, to be delivered within 2 months of the end of the period to which they relate.

5. undertakes courses accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority on the following subjects: 
    5.1 Solicitors’ Code of Conduct 2007 
    5.2 Solicitors’ Accounts Rules 1998 
    5.3 Legal Services Act 2007 
    5.4 Practice Management

Within 6 months of the date of notification of this decision and provides confirmation of the completion of the courses (in form of a certificate or letter of attendance from the course provider) at such courses when next applying for a practising certificate.

Reasons/basis

The Authorised Officer had regard to Regulation 6.1(a), (d) and (e) and considered that these conditions will, in the public interest, require Mr Ayeni to take specified steps conducive to the carrying on of efficient practice and will facilitate closer monitoring by the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
