Letterhead statement changes—grace period over
11 January 2008
We would like to remind firms that the period of grace allowed for making changes to notepaper is over. All firms should now comply with the Code of Conduct, and their letterhead and fax headings should say "regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority" in place of "regulated by the Law Society".
This also refers to any statements on websites.
This is required by subrule 7.07. Firms were allowed a period to make the changes and use up existing stocks of notepaper, but this ended on 30 September 2007. So all notepaper and websites must now comply with the new Code and bear the words "regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority".
The Solicitors' Code of Conduct is available at rules.sra.org.uk.
