SRA Update Issue 1 – June 2007
Minimum salary for trainee solicitors
The miniumum salary for trainees is set to continue for the time being, following a consultation that ended earlier this year.
The SRA Board will review the issue again in the light of future changes to training requirements for solicitors. From 1 August 2007, the minimum salary levels will be as follows:
- Central London—£17,660 pa
- Elsewhere—£15,820 pa
Until 31 July 2007, the following rates continue to apply:
- Central London—£17,110 pa
- Elsewhere—£15,332 pa
SRA student enrolment
Students who plan to begin the Legal Practice Course (LPC) this year must submit their SRA student enrolment application to us by 1 August.
You cannot enrol in an LPC programme until you have received written confirmation from the SRA
- that you are enrolled as a student member, and
- that you have completed the academic stage of training.
