How to update your practising details

Last updated 14 October 2011

You should notify the SRA whenever your practising details change for example, when you move to a new firm.

The correct procedure for notifying us of a change in your practising details depends on whether you are a manager or a non-manager.

Chapter 14 of the SRA Code of Conduct defines a manager as

  • a partner in a partnership,
  • a member of an LLP, or
  • a director of a company, or
  • in relation to any other body, a member of its governing body.

Non-managers

If you are a non-manager, please complete any change in your practising details using mySRA (My Profile area).

Non-managers include non-partners and non-partner equivalents for example, assistants, consultants, associates and employees who are solicitors, registered European lawyers or registered foreign lawyers.

Managers

If you are a manager, your new partnership, LLP or company should complete and submit Form NM1. You may also use this form to notify us if you are an existing manager leaving a partnership, LLP or company.
