KR1 – staying on the roll
Last updated 4 January 2012
Each year, we send an annual enquiry to all solicitors who do not hold a practising certificate, asking if they wish to keep their name on the roll of solicitors under the Solicitors Keeping of the Roll Regulations 2011.
In previous years, the KR1 annual enquiry has been sent out during March and April. We are changing the way we work, and we are now preparing to deliver the 2011 annual enquiry online.
The fee for keeping your name on the roll remains unchanged at £20. If you have been on the roll for fifty years or more, you will be exempt from having to pay this fee.
We contacted you by letter in mid-August 2011 with details of how to register online. This letter included your unique activation code.
We have now written again to all individuals who may wish to remain on the roll without renewing their PC. The letter provides details of the anticipated timescales for the 2011 annual keeping of the roll exercise. We will be opening the system for notifications and fee payment on 2 April 2012; if you wish your name to remain on the roll, you will need to have confirmed this through the system and made the relevant payment by 27 May 2012.
We hold the names of all the solicitors due to keep their name on the roll, but we may not have a current address recorded. It is important for the SRA to hold up-to-date contact details for you. If your details have changed, please contact us, quoting your SRA ID number.
If you know of someone who wishes to remain on the roll and may have changed their contact details, please ask them to contact us.
If we do not hear from you, it might be because you have changed your contact details without informing us.
