The topic-based guidance below is issued by the Professional Ethics Guidance Team to help solicitors comply with their professional obligations.

It is not mandatory and applies to matters of conduct after 1 July 2007.

These cards are generalised warnings. They are not rules and do not provide statutory definitions or advice. They are designed to warn you, in general terms, of some of the signs indicative of improper activity.

As always, please consider all areas of responsibility such as tipping off, legal professional privilege, duties of confidentiality and the circumstances when a suspicious activity report should be made to the Serious organised Crime Agency (SOCA).
