Continuing professional development
Since 1985, we have operated a compulsory continuing professional development scheme (CPD scheme). Over the years, it has evolved into a system guided by the principles of simplicity and flexibility.
On 21 May 2014, following formal consultation, the SRA Board agreed to implement a new approach to ensure solicitors remain competent to practice. The new approach will be implemented for all solicitors from 1 November 2016. However, solicitors can choose to move to this new approach from 1 April 2015.
Transfer of voluntary accreditation schemes from the SRA to the Law Society was completed in June 2009. Follow the links below for information about the remaining SRA-administered accreditation schemes:
Quality Assurance Scheme for Advocates (QASA)
Registration for the Quality Assurance Scheme for Advocates is suspended until further notice following an application to the Supreme Court by the Claimants seeking permission to appeal the recent Court of Appeal decision. We will issue further information in due course.
