Applying under the transfer regulations

Last updated 23 March 2009

We have experienced a large rise in the number of QLTR applications since August. As a result, some applications have not been assessed within service levels. Please email us or call our contact centre as a matter of urgency if you intend to take the QLTT in January or February 2009.

Detailed guidance

For a full list of jurisdictions and lawyers eligible, along with detailed guidance for applicants, download Completing the application to transfer under the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Regulations 1990 (PDF 199K).

Application form

To apply for a certificate of eligibility to take the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test (QLTT), or to make an application to transfer under the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Regulations 1990, download a QLTR application form (PDF 186K). Please complete the form and submit it to us.

If you are a solicitor from Northern Ireland (Reg 8) or a solicitor from the Republic of Ireland (Reg 13a), please do not complete a QLTR application form. Instead, contact us for an AD1 form.

Experience evidence form

If you have an experience requirement under the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Regulations, you must supply evidence of your experience—using a QLTR experience evidence form (PDF 78K), this is also available as a Word document (194K).

Application fee

To pay your application fee by credit card or debit card, download and submit our credit/debit authorisation form (PDF 43K).

Tuition

It is possible to prepare for the test by completing an organised training course. Download a list of QLTT tuition providers (PDF 34K).
