Higher Courts Rights of Audience

Solicitors are granted rights of audience in all courts when they are admitted but cannot exercise those rights in the higher courts without complying with further assessment requirements. We set the competence standards solicitor higher court advocates must meet, authorise assessment organisations to test people against those standards, and set the regulations under which this scheme operates.

Police Station Accredited Representatives

The Police Station Representatives register is regulated by the Legal Services Commission. The aim of the scheme is to accredit non-solicitors to advise and assist suspects being held at a police station and to claim payment from the Legal Services Commission for having provided such assistance.
