Equality impact assessments
Identifying the equality implications of the work that we do is key to helping us meet our regulatory objectives and legal duties. Over the years, we have undertaken a number of Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) which have been helpful in making sure that the approach we are taking is the best and fairest it can be in achieving our aims.

Our equality objectives for 2013/14 will support the SRA strategic plan in implementing our new proactive, risk-based and outcomes-focused regulation. In line with this new regulatory approach, we will be taking a more targeted, proportionate and proactive approach to measuring equality impact.
In previous years, we have published an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) schedule alongside the equality objectives and action plan set as part of our Equality Framework. One of the changes for this year is that we won’t be publishing a formal EIA schedule. Instead, through the implementation of our core R-View programme, we will ensure that fairness has been embedded across all of our regulatory functions. As part of this programme, those areas that are identified as having the most risks to the achievement of our regulatory objectives will be equality impact assessed where appropriate so that early action can be taken to address the risks.
