Terms of reference

  • To advise and act on behalf of the board on all matters concerning
    • standards of conduct of regulated individuals and organisations
    • proposed revisions to existing rules of conduct or Solicitors Accounts Rules or the making of new rules
    • guidance on matters of professional conduct
  • To advise on regulation policy in particular with regard to professional conduct and standards
  • To monitor and provide periodic reports to the board on relevant legislation and court decisions relating to standards of professional conduct
  • To monitor the keeping of the roll of solicitors, the issue of practising certificates, the registration of European and foreign lawyers and the recognition of bodies corporate
  • To exercise powers delegated to the committee by the board
