New Business and Oversight Board membership announced

The Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority today have announced the membership of its new Business and Oversight Board, which will oversee the delivery of shared services to both bodies and advise Law Society Council on oversight of the SRA.

The new board consists equal numbers of members from each body and three independent external members. It will meet for the first time on 27 February.

Law Society President, John Wotton said: "The new Board will underpin the working relationship between the Law Society and the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), while retaining the SRA's operational independence. It is pleasing that we have been able to attract such able members which promises an effective fulfilment of the Board's role."

The Chair of the SRA, Charles Plant, said: "This new Board will help to ensure effective management of support services for both bodies and will reinforce the SRA's operational independence. I thank the members for agreeing to serve in this way and look forward to us working together."
