Training for Tomorrow

We are starting our Training for Tomorrow 2014 engagement programme with a series of free roadshows in London, Sheffield, Manchester and Birmingham in January and February. These events will provide information on our proposals for simplifying the regulation of the SRA's Education and Training Framework and which are outlined in the current Regulation Review consultation.

Delegates at the events, which run from 5-7 pm and are CPD-accredited, will hear a presentation on the proposals, followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions and answers.

The aim of the consultation programme is to seek views on our proposals, which include setting out the SRA's training and education regulations in plain and clear terms, removing unnecessary requirements and processes, whilst retaining everything that is essential to secure good standards.

The proposed reforms will also provide a platform to deliver the wider aims of the Training for Tomorrow programme - to understand the knowledge, skills and behaviours required of competent solicitors, how we effectively ensure that solicitors are competent at the point of qualification, and how and where the responsibility for ensuring ongoing competence of solicitors best fits within the SRA's regulatory framework.

We are keen to engage stakeholders in delivering the outcomes of the review—the first of its kind in over 40 years—and are encouraging feedback at www.sra.org.uk/t4t. Email us or tweet us using #srat4t - we welcome your involvement.
