New Director of Education and Training for Solicitors Regulation Authority

Julie Brannan has joined the SRA as Director of Education and Training from Oxford Brookes University. She will lead the SRA’s work to introduce wide-ranging changes to the legal education and training framework.

Julie was previously Head of Knowledge Exchange and Business Development in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Oxford Brookes University. Prior to that she was Director of the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice (OXILP).

She started her career at Herbert Smith Freehills where she qualified as a solicitor before becoming a partner, practising in international commercial litigation.

SRA Chair, Charles Plant said: "We are delighted to welcome Julie Brannan as our new Director of Education at this key stage in the SRA's work to re-structure legal education and training.

"She brings with her vast experience from both legal and educational fields which will be of immense value in the programme we have ahead of us."

Julie Brannan said: "I am very pleased to be joining the SRA and am looking forward to getting involved in the SRA's review of legal education and training, which will comprise a demanding schedule of work over the coming years."
