Getting your firm authorised by the SRA

New firms intending to provide legal services who need to apply to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) to become authorised are invited to attend a free event at the Novotel Birmingham on 4 June to learn what the SRA is looking for when assessing applications.

The event, which is CPD accredited, is aimed at prospective firms, sole practitioners and alternative business structures to bring them up to speed with the SRA's new streamlined approach to authorisation and to ensure their application process runs as smoothly as possible.

The authorisation process is intended to provide clients and the general public with confidence that those engaged in legal services are delivering to high standard; that firms authorised by the SRA will be managed appropriately, and that those owning and managing law firms have the public's interest at heart.

The event programme which runs 10.00–14.00, will be introduced by SRA Chair, Charles Plant, followed by a plenary session delivered by SRA Executive Director, Samantha Barrass and breakout sessions covering:-

  • Setting up a new firm with a view to authorisation
  • How risk fits into the firm authorisation process
  • What we're looking for in those nominated as Role holders

Places are limited and on a strictly first-come, first-served basis.
