The SRA has appointed Crispin Passmore as Executive Director with responsibility for Policy.

He will join the SRA’s Senior Management Team on 6 January, 2014. Crispin Passmore is currently Strategy Director at the Legal Services Board, a position he has held since 2009.

SRA Chief Executive Antony Townsend said: “Crispin has extensive experience of regulation and legal services gained from his positions at the Legal Services Board, the Legal Services Commission, and as Chief Executive of the Coventry Law Centre.

“His expertise will strengthen our Senior Management Team at a time of transition, and we look forward to working with him. His responsibilities will include policy reform and education and training.”

Crispin Passmore added: "This is an exciting time to be joining the SRA. Enormous progress has been made in recent years towards modernising regulation. I look forward to helping the SRA meet the significant challenges ahead so that the legal market can continue to innovate and provide choice and value for money for consumers."

Crispin will work alongside Richard Collins, Executive Director for Strategy, David Middleton, Executive Director for Legal and Enforcement, and Alan Vallance, Chief Operating Officer of the Law Society Group.

As previously announced, Paul Philip becomes Chief Executive at the SRA after Antony Townsend’s departure on 31 January; and the other Executive Director, Samantha Barrass, leaves the SRA in February to become CEO of the Financial Services Commission of Gibraltar. Decisions about a replacement for Samantha Barrass will await Paul Philip’s arrival.
