PC renewals 2013/14 update

The regulatory deadline has now passed for those wishing to renew their Practising Certificate for 2013/14.

The window for renewals opened on 16 September and closed on Thursday (31 October). Individuals and firms had until then to complete their application and submit payment to allow them to continue practising in 2013/14. A total of 25,185 bulk and single applications were submitted by the deadline out of an estimated 29,616 applications based on last year's figures. That represented 85 per cent of the renewals expected by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).

Samantha Barrass, SRA Executive Director, said: "We are extremely pleased with the way the online renewals process has gone this year. Once again we have enjoyed a relatively trouble-free process, which is testament to the extensive engagement work that we continue to have with the profession.

"However, we are disappointed with the 15 per cent that haven't even started the process. and we will be starting the process of revocation under Regulation 10.2 of the SRA Practising Regulations 2011 in the next few weeks. Those who have not yet applied to renew their practising certificate/registration are strongly urged to do so in order to avoid revocation."

Those that still have to renew should go to the mySRA pages.
