News release

SRA begins revocation of practising certificates

We have written today to those solicitors who have failed to complete the process for renewal of their practising certificates, or registration.

Applications should have been completed by 31 October 2014 and we have sent several reminders to solicitors who have not submitted their renewals. We have also reminded firms which did not submit their bulk renewal applications by the end of October.

Paul Philip, Chief Executive, said: "It would be unfair to the vast majority of solicitors who pay their fees to allow those that don't, after a number of reminders, to remain in practice."

Further information on the revocations process is available at www.sra.org.uk/revocation
