SRA sets out its strategic direction for next three years

The SRA is inviting stakeholders to the launch of its strategic plan for 2013-15, which will include an in-depth session on how it intends delivering risk-based outcomes-focused regulation.

Two new major consultations will also be launched—one relating to international regulation, the second to the recently launched SRA Red Tape initiative. This free event, "Driving forward regulatory change: the next three years", runs from 11am to 3pm on Friday 14 December and will be of interest to partners, risk and compliance managers in firms, and those with an interest in international regulation, as well as other stakeholders interested in the SRA’s future plans.

Richard Collins, Executive Director at the SRA, said: "This event will feature presentations by the SRA that will provide an insight into our strategic thinking covering the next three years—including future challenges and priorities. The session on our risk-based approach to regulation will provide a clear overview of how we intend delivering risk-based outcomes-focused regulation effectively and efficiently.

"A further key priority for the SRA—and one on which we are seeking your input—is how we ensure that firms and the SRA can maximise the benefits of OFR by removing bureaucratic processes which may have carried through from the old, rules based, approach to regulation but which are no longer necessary.

"Our international consultation will set out how the SRA intends to take forward the regulation of international practices, and the consequential Handbook amendments. This builds on the feedback to our Green Paper consultation which concluded in February this year."

This is an opportunity to learn first-hand how the SRA intends driving forward regulatory change over the next three years. Places are filling up fast and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Attendance is free and the event is CPD-accredited. Anyone who would like to book a place can do so by completing the booking form no later than Friday 7 December.
