SRA invites tender for litigation panel

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is inviting tender bids for appointment to its litigation panel, as the current contracts for the existing panel of five firms expire at the end of May 2013.

The appointments, which are for an initial term of three years renewable annually for a further two years at the SRA's discretion, will come into effect on 1 June 2013. The successful firms will be responsible for:

  • dealing with court proceedings arising from interventions into or potential failure of law firms;
  • representation in recovery litigation, including by way of conditional fee arrangements where appropriate, such as:
    • Compensation Fund subrogation claims;
    • tracing actions/injunctions
  • defending and pursuing judicial review applications to include Human Rights challenges;
  • regulatory appeals;
  • defending and pursuing other types of claims on behalf of the SRA;
  • providing legal advice as may be required from time to time e.g. on regulatory issues, data protection, freedom of information and relevant aspects of European law.

Firms interested in being appointed can apply online where a Q&A has also been published. The closing date for applications is 13.00 on 18 March 2013.
