Qualified Lawyers Transfer Test

The SRA is to review the system for qualified lawyers from outside England and Wales, and for barristers of the English Bar, who want to become solicitors in England and Wales. We are consulting on some interim measures prior to the review, and your views are welcome.

Consultations on the future of SRA regulation following the Legal Services Act

We are running a number of consultations as we shape our future policy for regulation. These will affect firms and individuals, and this is your chance to make your views known. Regulation road shows

Come along to meet your regulator and discuss regulation issues at a road show event. There are still some places at the London event on Wednesday, 16 April, at the Royal Institute of British Architects. These events are free and attract two CPD points—please email events@sra.org.uk.

Black and minority ethnic solicitors working group

Annesta Weekes QC has been appointed to chair the working party looking at disproportionate involvement of BME solicitors in some areas of the SRA's regulatory processes. Lord Herman Ouseley, former chair of the Commission for Racial Equality, will conduct an independent review of the SRA's practices, procedures and decision making.
