We are proposing radical changes to the Assigned Risks Pool—along with a change to the definition of "successor practice" that would affect firms contemplating closure. Help to shape SRA policy by taking part in consultations open now.

In brief

How was it for you?

The SRA is keen to have feedback on this year's practising certificate, firm recognition and recognised sole practitioner authorisation renewal processes. Your comments—about the process, the forms or any other aspect of renewal—are welcome. Please email feedback to operations@sra.org.uk. This will help us to make improvements for next year's renewal processes.

What you said about regulating alternative business structures (ABSs)

We have published a report on your responses to our recent consultation on regulating ABSs. There was general support for aiming to issue the first ABS licences in mid-2011, in line with the Legal Services Board's target. There was also widespread agreement that the level of client protection should be the same, regardless of the type of firm that provides the service.

Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme consultation responses

A summary of responses to our consultation about changes to the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme is now available. A race equality impact assessment has also been published. Find out more

Panel of external adjudicators announced
