Paying for regulation
How much should you pay to be regulated? This is the question at the heart of a consultation launched jointly by the SRA and the Law Society. Learn about the changes we are proposing, and have your say.

Legal Services Act update
Changes brought about by the Legal Services Act continue to take effect, with new requirements for sole practitioners and other changes coming into effect on 1 July. Find out more, and get the latest news on annual renewals and ABSs.
Changes on charges
Major changes are coming into force in relation to solicitors' charges for non-contentious work. From 11 August, clients (and other "entitled persons") are no longer able to ask you to apply for a remuneration certificate in respect of bills issued on or after that date. Instead, if a client is unhappy about a bill, you should deal with it like any other complaint about your service. The SRA Board has made an emergency rule about information that must be given to clients.
Information on new LPC
How does the new Legal Practice Courses (LPC) differ from previous ones? Starting this autumn, law students will find out.
