Warning: Emails misusing the name of Bird & Bird LLP and Andrew Danson

Email has been sent misusing the identity of Bird & Bird LLP and Andrew Danson.
What is the scam?
An email has been sent falsely claiming to be from a genuine solicitor (Andrew Danson) of a genuine firm (Bird & Bird LLP - see below).
The SRA has been informed that the email was sent using the email address "email@example.com". The footer of the email misuses the details of the genuine firm of solicitors (see below).
Any business or transaction through the email address "firstname.lastname@example.org" is not undertaken by a solicitor regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates the genuine firm of Bird & Bird LLP, whose head office is at 12 New Fetter Lane, London, EC4A 1JP.
The SRA also authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Andrew Danson, who is a partner at Bird & Bird LLP. The genuine email address for Andrew Danson is Andy.Danson@twobirds.com.
The genuine firm confirms that neither it nor any of its affiliated entities, or the genuine Andrew Danson, have any connection with the email address or email referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
