Warning: Correspondence misusing the name of Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP

17 January 2019

Faxed correspondence from "Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP" has been sent, in relation to a supposedly unclaimed "permanent life insurance policy".

What is the scam?

The SRA has been informed that members of public have received a letter by fax, claiming to be from "Keith Oliver (Distinction) Head of Private Client Attorney" with a letterhead and footer falsely claiming it is from Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP. The letter relates to pursuing compensation from a purportedly unclaimed "permanent life insurance policy", with the recipient of the letter understood to have the same last name as a supposedly deceased client.

The letter seen by the SRA also provides telephone numbers of "+442895817926" and "+44289537927", a fax number of "+441512102697" and email addresses of "koliver@consultant.com" and "ktholivrr@gmail.com".

The letter misuses the name and address of a genuine firm and the name of a genuine solicitor (see below).

Any business or transactions through the contact numbers or email addresses set out above are not undertaken by a solicitor's firm or a solicitor authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Update 6/4/2019 12:00:00 AM

Members of the public have recently received a further fax falsely claiming to be from "Keith Oliver" of "Peters & Peters LLP", in relation to similar matters regarding a large purported "death benefit payout" from a "late client's life insurance policy".

The recent faxed letter seen by the SRA misuses the office address of a genuine firm of solicitors. It also again uses the telephone number +44 289 581 7926, provides further email addresses of "keitholiver@petersandpetersllpp.com" and "kitholler@gmail.com" and a website address of "https://petersandpetersllpp.com/". The website address referred to appears to have been suspended / taken down.

The genuine firm of Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP, and the genuine Keith Oliver of that firm, have both confirmed that they have no connection to the fax, email addresses, phone number or website address referred to above.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Keith Oliver who is the Head of International at Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP, a genuine firm of solicitors which is also authorised and regulated by the SRA.

The genuine firm's registered address is 15 Fetter Lane London EC4A 1BW.

Both the genuine firm of Peters & Peters Solicitors LLP and the genuine Keith Oliver have confirmed that they have no connection to the correspondence referred to above.
