The website "www․miltonsolicitors․com" is operating, claiming to be for a firm of "attorneys" called "Milton Solicitors" based in London․
What is the scam?
The website "www.miltonsolicitors.com" is operating, which claims to be the website for an " International law firm" called "Milton Solicitors" with an office in London.
The website provides the UK address of "Regal House, 70 London Road, Twickenham, TW1 3QS ", a telephone number of "+44 207 060 0609" and an email address of "firstname.lastname@example.org".
The SRA has also been informed that a member of the public has been asked to forward a "visa application fee" to a lawyer named "Henry Milton", and to discuss "relocation and immigration process" with him.
The SRA does not authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called "Milton Solicitors", nor does it authorise and regulate a solicitor called "Henry Milton".
Any business or transactions through "Milton Solicitors" or the website or contact details referred to above are not undertaken by a firm of solicitors or by an individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA did authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called Milton Solicitors Limited which was based in Walsall. This firm ceased trading on 30 September 2012.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
