Warning: Misusing the name of Tony Moore and AMD Solicitors Limited

Emails have been sent misusing the name of AMD Solicitors Limited and one its consultant solicitors Anthony Moore also known as Tony Moore.
What is the scam?
Several members of the public based in Norway have received emails claiming to be from “Tony Moore” of AMD Solicitors Limited. Emails seen by the SRA refer to purported abandoned financial investments where the recipient of the email is identified as a relation to the deceased investor.
The emails have been sent the following email address; firstname.lastname@example.org"
Any business or transactions through the above email address are not undertaken by a solicitor’s practice authorised and regulated by the SRA or by an individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA does authorise and regulate a genuine firm called AMD Solicitors Limited.
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Anthony Moore who is a consultant solicitor at the genuine firm of AMD Solicitors Limited.
The genuine firm of AMD Solicitors Limited and genuine consultant solicitor Anthony Moore have confirmed that they are not connected to the emails referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
