Warning: Website and correspondence misusing the name of Harding Evans LLP

The website "www․hardingevans-law․co․uk" is operating, which falsely claims to be for a firm of solicitors based in London․
What is the scam?
The website "www.hardingevans-law.co.uk" is operating, which falsely claims to be for a firm of solicitors based in London․ Faxes have also been sent falsely claiming to be from "Daniel Wilde" of Harding Evans LLP in respect of an unclaimed life insurance policy.
The website provides the telephone number "+44 208 638 5534", fax number "+44 207 022 8704" and email addresses firstname.lastname@example.org and "Danwilde@hardingevans-law.co.uk". It also uses the logo, postal address and SRA number of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).
The website also uses the name, photograph and contact details of a number of other genuine solicitors (see below).
The SRA has also been informed that members of the public have received faxed correspondence falsely claiming to be from "Dan Wilde" a "lawyer with Harding Evans LLP". The fax seen by the SRA refers to a claim for a purportedly unclaimed "permanent life insurance policy" for a deceased individual with the same surname as the recipient of the fax. The fax refers to the website, email addresses, telephone and fax number referred to on the above website, and also provides a further email address of email@example.com. It also gives the same postal address of the genuine firm (see below).
Any business or transactions through the website "www.hardingevans-law.co.uk" or any of the contact details provided above are not undertaken by a firm of solicitors or by an individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA does authorise and regulate a genuine firm called Harding Evans LLP trading as Harding Evans Solicitors, whose genuine address is Queens Chambers, 2 North Street, Newport, Gwent, NP20 1TE. The firm’s genuine telephone number is 01633 244233 and its fax number is 01633 246453. The genuine website is at www.hardingevans.com.
The SRA also authorise and regulate a solicitor called Daniel Wilde who is a Partner at the genuine firm of Harding Evans LLP. His genuine email address is firstname.lastname@example.org.
The genuine firm and genuine solicitor Daniel Wilde have confirmed that they have no connection with the website or correspondence referred to in the above alert.
The SRA also authorises and regulates a firm of solicitors called Sutton Mattocks Solicitors, which employs a number of genuine solicitors called Naomi Bloom, Matthew Flexman, Comfort Oladene, Alison Sutton-Mattocks, Gillian Tyndall, Kate Vowden and Jonathan Walsh. The genuine telephone numbers for Sutton Mattocks Solicitors are 020 3870 4372 and 020 3697 0362, its email address is email@example.com and its genuine website is www.suttonmattocks.co.uk.
The genuine firm of Sutton Mattocks Solicitors has also confirmed that neither it nor any of its solicitors are connected to the website referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
