Warning: Website profile for a 'law firm' called 'Chun Lam Solicitors'

The website 'www.nicelocal.co.uk' is falsely claiming that 'Chun Lam Solicitors' is firm of solicitors.

What is the scam?

The website 'www.nicelocal.co.uk' and 'www.bark,com' are operating. The websites present themselves as a directory for legal services.

The websites provide details of solicitors called ''Chun lam', falsely claiming it is a 'solicitors' and 'www.nicelocal.co,uk' uses the postal address of 'Maldon CM9 4ND, 110 The Causeway, Heybridge Business Centre' and contact telephone number of 0208 6388 828. 

The SRA does not authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called 'Chun Lam Solicitors', but the website is misusing the postal address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

Any business or transaction through a supposed 'law firm' called 'Chun Lam Solicitors' is not undertaken by a solicitors' practice authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA does authorise and regulate several genuine solicitors named Chun Lam, who are currently non-practising solicitors we believe they have not connection to the website referred to above.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
