The website 'www.johngraysolicitors.com' is operating, falsely claiming to be for a genuine firm of solicitors.

What is the scam?

The website 'www.johngraysolicitors.com' is operating, falsely claiming to be a genuine firm of solicitors.

The website provides address details of '55 Canon Street, London EC4N 6NP' and '14 Station Parade, Northolt, London, UB5 5HR', a telephone number of '+447452233759' and email address of 'info@johngraysolicitors.com'. 

The website misuses the name of genuine individuals at a genuine firm and provides a genuine SRA ID for a genuine firm (see below).The SRA does not authorise or regulate a firm called 'John Gray Solicitors'

Any business or transaction through 'John Gray Solicitors', the website 'www.johngraysolicitors.com' and the above contact details are not undertaken by a solicitors' practice authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises a genuine firm of solicitors called OTS Solicitors Limited whose genuine  SRA ID is 639110. The genuine firm has a head office on 60 Cannon Street, London, EC4N 6PN and a branch office at 11 Station Parade, Northolt, London, UB5 5HR. The firm’s genuine email address is  info@otssolicitors.co.uk and its genuine telephone number is 0203 959 9123.

The genuine firm employs a number of  genuine solicitors whose name and details have been misused in the website referred to above.

The genuine OTS Solicitors Limited have confirmed that neither the firm nor their staff have any genuine connection to the website referred to in the above alert. 

The SRA does authorise and regulate a number of solicitors called John Gray none of whom are believed to have any intended connection to the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
