Warning: Correspondence misusing the name of Gibbons Law Ltd

Correspondence has been sent falsely claiming to be from ‘Gibbons Law Ltd’ relating to a solar panel compensation scheme.
What is the scam?
Correspondence has been sent to members of the public claiming to be from 'Gibbons Law Ltd' which supposedly offer the recipients compensation for a solar panel scheme. An upfront payment is required before any compensation from Barclays Bank is released.
The letter seen by the SRA gives the email address of 'Gibbonslawltd2016@gmail.com' and the telephone number '0207 1937026'.
The email misuses the name and former office address of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).
Any business or transactions through the above email address and telephone number is not undertaken by an individual or firm of solicitors authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Gibbons Law Ltd (SRA ID 835600), whose head office was previously based at Office 6, 16 Clocktower Park, Longmoor Lane, Liverpool, L10 1LD.
The firm's genuine contact details are 07585800187 and the email address daniellegibbons18@icloud.com.
The genuine firm of Gibbons Law Ltd has confirmed that it has no connection with the correspondence referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.

We have been advised that a member of the public was contacted by a 'David Peter Smith' who stated he was from the above firm.
The SRA does not authorise or regulate a solicitor called David Peter Smith.
