A document has been stamped misusing the name 'Wright Justice Solicitors Ltd'.

What is the scam?

An energy supplier has received Leasehold Agreement that is purporting to have been stamped by 'Wright Justice Solicitors Ltd'.

The stamp that has been used misuses the name, address, and SRA ID for the branch office of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below).

The SRA is also advised that a letter has misused the name, logo and SRA ID for the branch office of a genuine firm of solicitors (see below). The letter purports to have been signed by a genuine solicitor.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Wright Justice Solicitors Ltd. One of its genuine branch offices is at 394 Alfreton, Nottingham, NG7 5NE. The SRA ID for this branch office is 667136. The genuine stamp used by this branch also includes the email address Nottingham@wrightjustice.co.uk.

The genuine firm of Wright Justice Solicitors Ltd has a member called Muhammad Tahir Abdullah.

Wright Justice Solicitors Ltd has confirmed that neither the firm nor the genuine Muhammad Tahir Abdullah have any connection to the stamp, stamped document, or letter referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
