Warning: Website for 'Quatra Law Firms' falsely claiming to be a law firm

A website for 'Quatra Law Firms' is falsely claiming to be for a law firm while misusing the names and photographs of genuine solicitors.

What is the scam?

The website 'www.quatralawfirms.co.uk' is operating and falsely claiming to be for a law firm called 'Quatra Law Firms'.

The website provides postal addresses of 'The Hanover Building, Corporation Street, Manchester, Man 4Ep' and '20 Van de hill Street, London, EC2A 4DN'. It also provides a telephone number of '+44778955643' and an email address of 'enquries@quatralawfirms.co.uk'.

The website misuses the names and/or photographs of multiple genuine solicitors from a genuine firm (see below).

The SRA does not authorise and regulate a firm of solicitors called 'Quatra Law Firms'.

Any business or transaction through 'Quatra Law Firms', the website www.quatralawfirms.co.uk', the email address 'enquries@quatralawfirms.co.uk' or the telephone number '+44778955643' is not undertaken by a solicitors' practice or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a firm called Kingsley Napley LLP whose head office is based at 20 Bonhill Street, London, EC2A 4DN. Its website is www.kingsleynapley.co.uk.

The genuine number for Kingsley Napley LLP is 020 7814 1200.

Kingsley Napley LLP has confirmed that neither the firm nor any of its solicitors, many of whose photographs and/or names are misused on the website referred to in the above alert, have any connection to the website referred to in the above warning.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
