Warning: Email misusing the name of Gans & Co Solicitors LLP

An email has been sent misusing the name of Gans & Co Solicitors LLP, claiming to have an attached contract bundle.
What is the scam?
An email has been sent falsely claiming to be from 'Tumi Gambo' of 'Gans & Co Solicitors LLP' which includes an attachment that claims to provide a 'contract bundle' for the buyer's solicitors.
The SRA is advised that when you click the attachment you are directed to a website. A concern is that the link may contain malware.
The email seen by the SRA appears to be sent from a genuine email address of a solicitor and provides the postal address and DX address for the genuine firm (see below).
The email also provides a telephone number of '020 7469 7110' and a fax number of '020 7469 7111'.
Any business or transaction through the telephone number '020 7469 7110' and fax number '020 7469 7111' are not undertaken by a firm or individual authorised and regulated by the SRA.
Is there a genuine firm or person?
The SRA authorises and regulates a genuine firm of solicitors called Gans & Co Solicitors LLP (SRA ID 489594) whose address is 214-216 Rye Lane, Peckham, London, SE15 4NL and telephone number is 02074697010. Its genuine fax number is 0207 469 7011.
The genuine website for Gans & Co Solicitors LLP is www.ganssolicitors.com.
The SRA also authorises and regulates a genuine solicitor called Tumininu Gambo who refers to herself as Tumi Gambo and who is a solicitor at the genuine firm of Gans & Co Solicitors LLP whose genuine email address is tumi@ganssolicitors.com
The genuine firm of Gans & Co Solicitors LLP and genuine solicitor Tumininu Gambo has confirmed that they have no genuine intended connection to the emails referred to in the above alert.
What should I do?
When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (e.g. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.
