Warning: Emails misusing the name of Addleshaw Goddard LLP and Natasha Winter

Emails sent falsely claiming to be from Natasha Winter of Addleshaw Goddard LLP in relation to supposedly unpaid invoices.

What is the scam?

Emails have been sent from someone falsely claiming to be Natasha Winter of Addleshaw Goddard LLP in relation to supposedly unpaid invoices.

The emails were sent using an email address of 'natashawinter@addleshawqoddard.com' (with a 'q' instead of a 'g' in the domain name). The emails misuse the name of a genuine solicitor and the registered address and name of a genuine firm (see below).

Any business or transaction through the email address of 'natashawinter@addleshawqoddard.com' is not undertaken by the genuine solicitor referred to.

Is there a genuine firm or person?

The SRA authorises and regulates a firm of solicitors called Addleshaw Goddard LLP whose head office is at Milton Gate, 60 Chiswell Street, London EC1Y 4AG. The firm email domain ends with @addleshawgoddard.com.

The SRA authorises a genuine solicitor called Natasha Winter who is a member of Addleshaw Goddard LLP.

The genuine firm of Addleshaw Goddard LLP and the genuine solicitor Natasha Winter have confirmed that they have no genuine connection to the emails referred to in the above alert.

What should I do?

When a firm's or individual's identity has been copied exactly (or cloned), due diligence is necessary. If you receive correspondence claiming to be from the above firm(s) or individual(s), or information of a similar nature to that described, you should conduct your own due diligence by checking the authenticity of the correspondence by contacting the law firm directly by reliable and established means. You can contact the SRA to find out if individuals or firms are regulated and authorised by the SRA and verify an individual's or firm's practising details. Other verification methods, such as checking public records (eg. telephone directories and company records) may be required in other circumstances.

The SRA has been informed that further emails have been sent falsely claiming to be from Natasha Winter of Addleshaw Goddard LLP in relation to supposedly unpaid invoices.

The SRA understands that these emails were sent using an email domain address of:

  • @addlashawgoddard.com (the 'e' has been replaced with an 'a')
  • @addleshawugoddard.com (addition of a 'u')
  • @addelshawqoddard.com (the 'e' and 'l' have been swapped and the 'g' has been replaced with a 'q) and
  • @addleshawgoddarrd.com (addition of an extra 'a').

Any business or transaction through the above email domain addresses are not undertaken by a genuine solicitor authorised or regulated by the SRA.

The SRA has been informed that further emails have been sent falsely claiming to be from Natasha Winter of Addleshaw Goddard LLP in relation to supposedly unpaid invoices.

The SRA understands that these emails were sent using an email address of:

  • addleshagoddard.com (no 'w')
  • addleshawgoddardd.com (addition of an extra 'd')
  • addleshawgoddaird.com (addition of an 'i')
  • addleshawpoddard.com (the 'd' has been replaced with a 'p')
  • addleshewgoddard.com (the 'a' has been replaced with an 'e')
  • addlieshawgoddard.com (addition of an 'i')

Any business or transaction through the above email addresses are not undertaken by a genuine solicitor authorised or regulated by the SRA.

Update 24 April 2023

The SRA has been informed that another similar bogus email has been sent falsely claiming to be from Natasha Winter of Addleshaw Goddard LLP in relation to supposedly unpaid invoices.

The SRA understands that the further email was sent using an email domain of '@addleshawgodderd.com' (note the final 'a' changed to 'e').

Any business or transaction through an email using the domain of 'addleshawgodderd.com' is not undertaken by a genuine solicitor authorised or regulated by the SRA.

The SRA has been informed that further emails have been sent falsely claiming to be from Natasha Winter of Addleshaw Goddard LLP in relation to supposedly unpaid invoices.

The SRA understands that these emails were sent using an email address of:

  • 'addleeshawgoddard.com' (addition of an extra 'e')
  • 'addleshawggoddard.com' (addition of an extra 'g')
  • 'addleshawgoddald.com'(the 'r' in 'goddard' has been replaced with an 'l')
  • 'addlesshawgodddard.com' (addition of an extra 's')
  • 'addlleshawgoddard.com' (addition of an extra 'l')

Any business or transaction through the above email addresses are not undertaken by a genuine solicitor authorised or regulated by the SRA.

The SRA has been informed that further emails have been sent falsely claiming to be from Natasha Winter of Addleshaw Goddard LLP in relation to supposedly unpaid invoices.

The SRA understands that these emails were sent using an email domain of 'addleshawvgoddard.com' (note the addition of a 'v').

Any business or transaction through an email using the domain of 'addleshawvgoddard.com' is not undertaken by a genuine solicitor authorised or regulated by the SRA.

The SRA has been informed that further emails have been sent falsely claiming to be from Natasha Winter of Addleshaw Goddard LLP in relation to supposedly unpaid invoices.

The SRA understands that these emails were sent using an email address of 'natashawinter@addleshawwgoddard.com' (note the two 'w's).

Any business or transaction through the email address of 'natashawinter@addleshawwgoddard.com' is not undertaken by a genuine solicitor authorised or regulated by the SRA.
