Reasons/basis
- Ms Hawksley and Mr Bhandal as managers of the firm, and the firm itself, have failed to comply with rules applicable to them under section 9 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 (paragraph 32(1)(a) of Schedule 2 of that Act).
- It is necessary to intervene to protect the interests of clients (or former or potential clients), or the interests of thre beneficiaries of any trust of which the firm is or was a trustee, or the interests of the beneficiaries of any trust of which a person who is or was a manager or employee of the firm in that person's capacity as such a manger or employee (paragraph 32(1)(e ) Schedule 2 Administration of Justice Act 1985).

Hawksleys Law Limited is a recognised body, whose head office is at Minster Court, Tuscam Way, Camberley, GU15 3YY.
It was found that Hawksleys:
Failed to comply with two decisions issued by the Legal Ombudsman by the required dates of 31 August 2018 and 31 January 2019. In doing so it:
- breached Principles 4, 6 and 7 of the SRA Principles 2011
- breached Principles 2 and 7 of the SRA Principles 2019
- failed to achieve Outcome 10.6 of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011 and
- breached paragraphs 3.2 and 3.3 of the Code of Conduct for Firms 2019.
Failed to cooperate with requests from the SRA for explanations and information during the course of its investigation. In doing so it:
- breached Principles 6 and 7 of the SRA Principles 2011
- breached Principle 2 of the SRA Principles 2019
- failed to achieve Outcome 10.6 of the SRA Code of Conduct 2011 and
- breached paragraphs 3.2 and 3.3 of the Code of Conduct for Firms 2019.
Hawksleys was directed to pay a financial penalty of £2,000 and ordered to pay costs of £1,800.
