Log in, go to 'My Profile', 'Personal and Professional Details' and click on the relevant tab.

mySRA user support

If you need to reset your password you should select Forgotten password? from the left menu. 

Enter your user name and press Submit

An email will be sent to the email address on our records. 

Click on the link in the email and you will be directed back to the forgotten password page. 

Enter your user name and create and confirm a new password. 

The link is valid for 60 minutes from the time it is requested.

Go to mySRA, click Log in, and then select Forgotten password? from the left menu. 

Enter your user name and press Submit

An email will be sent to the email address on our records. 

Click on the link in the email and you will be directed back to the forgotten password page. 

Enter your user name and create and confirm a new password. 

The link is valid for 60 minutes from the time it is requested.

Go to mySRA, click Log in and select Forgotten username? from the left menu. 

Enter the email address that we have on record for you. Your user name will be emailed to that address.

If you do not receive it please contact us.

 

You will be sent a new activation letter in 5 to 7 days. 

The code will remain valid for 28 days.

We cannot provide activation codes by email.

A modern PC capable of running Windows (XP, 7 or 8) and Internet Explorer 8 or 11. 

If you are using a PC with Windows 10 you can currently access Internet Explorer 11. This may change at any time, therefore you are advised to use Windows 7 or 8 where possible. 

You can check the Microsoft website for the minimum recommended specifications. 

Browser type

For the best experience with mySRA, we recommend Internet Explorer 11. 

There are known issues with other browsers (such as Mozilla Firefox or Safari). You may be able to complete all or part of an application using other browsers but we cannot guarantee you will be able to submit it successfully. 

Email settings

Please ensure that sra.org.uk will not be blocked by your email spam filter. This will ensure that SRA emails are not added to your trash or junk email folder. 

Network connectivity 

Broadband-type connection or equivalent high-speed connection. If you need guidance on any of the above matters please seek independent technical advice.

Individual mySRA

Once any changes are made in your mySRA account, it may take up to 48 hours for the details to appear on Find a Solicitor.

You can add, change and remove posts in the Professional details section of your mySRA account.

Please note that managerial posts (partner, director, member) can only be added by the authorised signatory at your firm.

There are some roles that cannot be added through mySRA: 

  • Compliance officer for financial and administration 
  • Compliance officer for legal practice 
  • Training principal. 

These are roles that we authorise.

Go to the Professional Details section of your mySRA account. Make sure that there is no tick in the Opt in to bulk renewal box. 

If you are not opted in you have to complete an individual application to renew your practising certificate.

If you are opted in you will receive an email if changes are made to your mySRA account.

Individual practising certificate

Select My Services- Individual Services from the left-hand menu. 

Click Renew practising certificate in Start a new application.

Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) solicitors are exempt from paying.

You must notify whether you are subject to a regulation 3 event or circumstance so we can assess whether you can hold a practising certificate or registration. 

If you are subject to regulation 3 you must complete your own application for a practising certificate/registration. You cannot be included in a bulk renewal application.

Authorised signatory / Organisation contact

It can be a solicitor or REL with a current practising certificate/registration and who is a manager (a partner in a partnership; a member in an LLP; a director in a company). 

In a commerce and industry organisation it can be a solicitor or a REL with a current practising certificate/registration. 

The authorised signatory (AUS) can nominate an organisation contact (ORC) to complete the bulk renewal application but only the AUS can sign it.

You must hold a current practising certificate/registration and be a manager (a partner in a partnership; a member in an LLP; a director in a company). 

In a commerce and industry organisation you must simply hold a current practising certificate/registration.

There are no restrictions on who can be an ORC but the AUS should be satisfied they are suitable to complete this role. ORCs can see and change individuals' personal and professional details if they have opted in to the bulk renewal process. 

To be nominated as an ORC you must have registered a mySRA account.

You will need to seek our approval for other new managers and owners who cannot be deemed approved. This must be done before they start at the firm. Read more

Once the AUS or ORC has clicked on 'Left organisation' and entered an end date, the post and roles for that person are ended. This will include manager posts.

They can access them through their mySRA account under My documents – Organisation.

Opting in / out

Open all

Opting out of your organisation means that you would have to complete an individual application for a practising certificate. The AUS or ORC would not be able to see and change your personal information. They can still change any professional details (office, posts and roles) associated with their organisation.

Select your organisation from the drop down list. 

In Professional details make sure that there is a tick in the box for Opt into bulk renewal. Save.

Certificates of good standing

Open all
  • Your admission date. 
  • Whether you hold a current practising certificate. Any conditions may be disclosed. 
  • Whether you have Findings and Orders. If you have they may be included. 
  • Your address. 
  • That you have not been struck off or suspended from practise. 
  • That there are no disciplinary proceedings pending against you. 

The address on your certificate must be an address which is held on our records. Please make sure that your address is up to date in the 'Personal Details' section of your mySRA account. 

We can send the certificate to an address of your choice whether or not it is held on our records.
